Features
RowingBeacon replaces the club’s paper outing logbook. This page presents its 30 features. Each page explains what the feature is for, how to use it, where to find it in the app and what its limits are.
At the pontoon
- Logging outingsRowers pick their boat, route and crew from lists, and one button fills in the end time on return. A forgotten outing can be logged afterwards.
- Boathouse sun times and reminderThe boathouse screen shows the time, sunrise and sunset, unavailable boats, seats left at departure and a reminder to close up when the last boat is in.
- Log a past outing or correct oneLog a forgotten outing from the boathouse screen or the logbook, and correct an outing in progress or finished. The app checks times and crew.
- Reporting an incidentOn return, the crew ticks a box and describes what happened. Officials find the incident in the logbook and can turn it into a damage report.
- Level systemA boat can require a minimum category or rower type. The app warns, or blocks the departure, if the crew does not meet it.
- Boat reservationsReserve a boat for a regatta, a course or a weekly slot. The boathouse screen shows it as reserved and warns at departure, never stopping anyone going out.
- Outing typesSay whether an outing is training, a regatta or a tour, and log outings over several days. The type shows in the logbook, the exports and the statistics.
- Distances and kilometresGive each route a distance, have it filled in when the crew returns, and follow the kilometres rowed in the logbook, the statistics and the exports.
- Captain of the crewName the person responsible for each crew at departure. The cox, or else the first adult rower, is suggested, and the captain shows in the logbook.
- Guests and visiting rowersType a visitor’s name at departure and go out, without adding them to the rower list. Their outings stay in the logbook and the statistics.
- Coached outingsAt the end of each outing, the crew says whether a coach was with them. The information appears in the logbook, the statistics and the exports.
- Coach’s noteA message from the coach shown at the top of the boathouse screen, so every rower sees it at the moment they pick a boat for their outing.
For club officials
- StatisticsA dashboard, 29 reports, a printable annual report, SQL queries and an optional AI. Rower and boat pages stay in Management.

- AI assistant and MCP serverAsk in plain English: the AI (Anthropic, OpenAI or a compatible service) writes the query. No rower data is sent. MCP option for Claude Desktop.
- The outing logbookEvery outing of the club, with its crew, times and comments. A forgotten outing can be added and a wrong one corrected.
- Boat damage reportsReport a damage with its severity, follow it through to repair and warn the crew at departure. Damage reports from efa2 are carried over.
- Exporting outingsThe outing history, for the period you choose, as OpenDocument, Excel, CSV or JSON, for your reports and your files.
- Rowers, boats and routesThe club’s rowers, boats and routes are entered once, edited in bulk, archived without losing anything and copied to another computer.
- Full member profileKeep each rower’s details in one place: first and last names, gender, birth date, licence number, email, phone, address and status.
- Cox and riggingsThe cox is logged separately, and the same boat can go out sculling or sweeping. The logbook and the statistics take both into account.
