Level system

A boat can require a minimum category or rower type. The app warns, or blocks the departure, if the crew does not meet it.

Where to find it
Management › Miscellaneous settings › Level system
Available since
v1.14 (January 2025), simplified in v1.16 (March 2025)
Module to turn on
None

What it is for

Stop a racing boat or a single scull going out with a crew that does not have the level required.

The check is made at departure, at the pontoon, even when no official is around.

How to use it

  1. On each rower, in Management › Rowers: enter a category (J10, J12, J14, J16, J18 or Senior, the age bands used by French clubs: J for youth, then Senior) and a type (“Recreational” or “Competitor”).
  2. On each boat, in Management › Boats: enter a minimum category and a minimum type. In the boathouse, the boat then shows its requirements, for example “Competition boat” or “From J16”.
  3. The thresholds, in Management › Miscellaneous settings › “Configure boat levels”: for each boat type, say from how many rowers without the required level the app shows an alert, and from how many it blocks the outing.
  4. At departure, the app shows “Level restriction on this boat:” and, if needed, how many rowers do not have the required level. Depending on the thresholds, it asks for confirmation or refuses the departure.

Settings

  • Rower category: from J10 to Senior.
  • Rower type: recreational or competitor.
  • Boat requirements: a minimum category, a minimum type, both or neither.
  • Thresholds per boat type: the number of rowers without the required level from which the app alerts, and the number from which it blocks.

Limits and details

  • Everything is optional: a boat with no requirement triggers no check.
  • Thresholds are set separately for each boat type. A club can, for instance, tolerate one rower without the required level in an eight, and none in a single scull.
  • The settings are in Management, protected by the admin password: rowers cannot lift a restriction themselves.
  • When adding rowers in bulk, you can give them a default category and type (since v1.16, March 2025).
  • Levels are not checked when you log a past outing or correct an outing: it has already taken place. See Log a past outing or correct one.
